Die Alte feiert Geburtstag, ZAK, Happening, 2026
In a run-down nightclub in Vienna’s 15th district, where neon lights flicker like dying stars, re-sides Die Alte. Some say they are the lost child, born out of a wild orgy between John Waters and Throbbing Gristle. If that’s really true? Who knows – it certainly can’t be proved. In Sonic Agency, Brandon LaBelle writes: ‘Listening is the basis for a rebellious activity, a coming community’. Based on this idea, Die Alte explores the dynamics of interpersonal relationships and the possibilities of community-building in late capitalism. The result is a creative process that consciously dissolves the separation of work and play. Die Alte creates a bizarre, dream-like world that combines pop and subculture with a healthy dose of humor.
And now Die Alte celebrates birthday with all its glory at Schlingerhof in Floridsdorf. A happening that is difficult to describe in words.
